I know if I was getting married I’d struggle between a bold or a pastel pale colour palette. There’s something about a soft, floaty ethereal wedding colour palette but I’m also just as drawn to bright bold neons and colour blocking.

So I’m drawn to the combination of the two as shown by these peaches and cream bridesmaid dresses and bright florals. A perfect way to avoid having to choose!

If I was engaged I’d want a unique contemporary, (or an antique and full of history) ring and this would tick my box. Especially since it’s only $74.

I do lots of moodboards like this for my styling clients and find endless inspiration on Pinterest. At the moments my brides seem really into the pale pastel look but bouquet wise you can’t beat a bright bold look too, so I’ll be blogging one of those moodboards soon too.

The photo booth ‘trend’ has been a staple of weddings for a good few years now and is definitely something I recommend couples if their budget allows it.

I get a lot of enquiries from lovely brides to be looking for full planning for their small budget weddings. Now I’m definitely not belittling people who don’t spend £30,000 and more on a wedding, (indeed I’d probably elope myself) but a girl’s got to make a living too.

Full planning for a wedding planner is a huuuuuge amount of work. We generally work up to a year in advance of the big day and aside from the actual supplier sourcing and liaising that goes on we spend a lot of time emailing, calling and meeting the couple themselves. So obviously we need to charge a fair bit in order not to go bankrupt.

At the beginning of Savoir I took on jobs that were really fun or great wedding wise but awful business wise and unfortunately I’ve learned the hard way, you can’t take jobs on because you like people or their wedding sounds good – they’ve got to be able to afford you.

But, I still love the low budget weddings. The couples are often lovely and down to earth and their ideas are great. Which is why I’ve come up with a package that I’m hoping will help.

Full planning involves the sourcing of suppliers but it also involves liaising, negotiating with and generally keeping in touch with said suppliers. This is what’s time consuming and therefore what’s costly for the couple. So I now offer a pick n mix supplier package where the couple can choose 3 suppliers, (doesn’t include a venue search) from bands to florists, caterers to photographers. I then compile a report of 3 options per supplier that are available and in budget.

The info goes to the couple in the form of a report which is then their tool to work from. Obviously this isn’t the same as full planning and doesn’t include the ongoing support, but it’s a great way to get personal contacts and recommendations specifically for their wedding.

I admit it. I get jealous when I find good ideas I feel I should have come up with myself. This is one such idea. How can something so simple as bits of coloured tissue paper squares stuck to paper lanterns look so good? A splendid way to decorate your wedding venue on a budget.
