Futuristic pixie shoot

One of the best aspects of being co-editor of dashing magazine is getting to come up with fun shoot ideas. I’m a big fan of the pastel look so had a lot of fun with this futuristic pixie inspired shoot.

Liv of blushless did the rather splendid make up and Fanni our creative director did the photography. That girl is one annoyingly all round talented chick.

If you click on the images you can see them larger…

Oh pastels. No matter what the season I always love you.

Jon & Vicky preview

How gorgeous is the light and more importantly, how gorgeous does Vicky look?

Jon & Vicky’s wedding was shot by the uber talented Julia from Modern Photographic with a little help from her equally splendid second shooter Funmi. More to come soon…

Between the devil and the deep blue sea

I do love the clever and creative couples and the ways they incorporate this when announcing their happy news. Myra & Kenneth put together this rather splendid little vid to announce their engagement to the world.

The concept was created by Myra’s dad and filmed and edited by brother Lars, this incredibly professional looking film is lovely, unpretentious and generally good way to see out a Friday afternoon.

What do you think? Impressive, no?

Gin cocktails in tea cup wine glasses?

Don’t mind if I do.

via Marianne Taylor

I stumbled across this genius idea from Festival Brides and just fell in love with it. The teacups at weddings thing is done to death a little bit and this is a clever spin on it. They’re the work of Abby Forknall (teacupwineglasses@hotmail.co.uk)

Even if you’re not having a strictly ‘vintage wedding’ why not create your own bathtub gin cocktails à la 20s prohibition style for a unique twist on a garden party?

Jon & Vicky’s wedding

On Saturday I (and my trusty assistant) worked our first wedding of 2012. Most of the work I do is wedding styling so I don’t always go to the actual weddings on the day.

Jon & Vicky booked me last July wanting full planning services for their 10th March 2012 wedding. I always like weddings out of season slightly and I liked the idea of planning a wedding in 8 months. I’ve done a full planning job in 3 months before and I have to say, I think it’s better for the couples not to have 12-15 months to plan. Less time to over analyse and easier to make decisions in many ways.

Jon & Vicky’s big day was at Nonsuch Mansion a venue I can’t rate highly enough. Watch this space for more details..

The spring issue of Dashing has landed!

Being a fan of spring – I think it’s my favourite season – all the promise of warm weather around the corner without the disappointment of it not happening, I was always looking forward to the spring issue of Dashing.

It definitely is a challenge getting enough good content together and styling the shoots when all three of us have full time jobs but it’s so much fun not to mention challenging creatively that I don’t think we’ll ever stop!

Hope if you check it out you enjoy it and have a great weekend :)

Aries & Oscar love shoot

Some couples are just plain adorable. And Aries and Oscar are definitely one such couple. Hell even their names are adorable.

This love shoot was shot by Clair Estelle (who also shot this wedding).

Aries & Oscar are from Hong Kong and flew over just for this shoot with Clair who in turn is flying to shoot their wedding in 20143.

Aries wore three different outfits and they hopped around London town from autumn leaf kicking with balloons in the park to some more iconic London landmarks.

I know some people aren’t sure about balloons but with a couple as cute as this they couldn’t really go wrong could they?

Retro wedding invitations by Ello There

I don’t know what I did before Etsy. Much like Pinterest I can spend hours just cruising through their treasuries.

I stumbled the other day upon the shop Ello There and thought you might like their retro inspired wedding invitations as much as I do.

The kite isn’t really retro but I thought it was necessary to post too because it’s just so cute!

I never used to be into the idea of wedding stationery much. I mean I appreciate it, but I thought there were better things to spend a wedding budget on. However with a little bit of creativity (and a smallish guest list) even budget weddings can have pretty cool wedding invitations.

Quirky fascinators by Blair Nadeau Millinery

Always got my eye out for the interesting and these fascinators from Blair Nadeau Millinery do not disappoint.

Based in Toronto, Blair’s pieces aren’t available to buy in the UK yet but she does ship here directly from her website.

You do have to have a certain confidence to pull off a bold unique fascinator, (and the right hair) on your big day. I think that first one known as Lady Buttercup fascinator is my favourite. Perfect for a bohemian bride who wants to make a statement.

What do you think? To fascinate or not to fascinate?

Featured in Wedding Flowers magazine!

Last summer I styled a shoot inspired by the looks of Marie Antoinette and Jane Austen. You can see the full shoot on my old blog here.

Despite having pretty horrific morning sickness it was a brilliant shoot to work on and we were all pretty chuffed when told it was going to be in February’s Wedding Flowers magazine!

Featuring some of my favourite suppliers it was one of those rare occasions when your vision is totally exceeded by the results so I feel quite proud to see it in print!
